Jean Mill Feline Enthusiast TIFF Scholarship Awards Program

Purpose

The purpose of the Jean Mill Feline Enthusiast TIFF Scholarship Awards Program is to provide funding to individuals who have shown an interest in attending specific conferences and/or seminars that will further their knowledge of the sciences, law or government relations with an emphasis on feline research.

Awards

Up to six feline enthusiast scholarship awards are available in amounts up to $500 annually. Awards are for one year only, but recipients may re-apply for a second year. All scholarship awards will be paid directly to the recipients within two weeks prior to the conferences or seminars they are attending.

To obtain an award, the enthusiast must agree to provide an article or presentation of the conference proceedings within 30 days of the conference to share with the larger feline enthusiast community.

The following conferences and/or seminars are the only ones approved for Jean Mill Feline Enthusiasts TIFF Scholarships:

  1. WINN On the Road (several times a year throughout the US)
  2. January 12-16, 2019 International Plant & Animal Genetics Conference, San Diego, CA
  3. April 27-29, 2019 Feline Medicine/Orphan Kitten Management UC Davis
  4. May 26-29, 2019 International Canine & Feline Genetics and Genomics Conference Bern, Switzerland
  5. Late June 2019 International Cat Care Symposium (France)
  6. July 7-12, 2019 International Society of Animal Genetics Llieda, Spain
  7. July 2019 Texas A&M Feline Forum, College Station, TX
  8. July 2019 Fred Scott Feline Health Symposium, Cornell University
  9. October 2019 Animal Law Conference
  10. Oct 31-Nov. 4, 2019 American Association of Feline Practitioner’s Conference, San Francisco, CA

Eligibility

  1. Applicants must have bred and registered with The International Cat Association (TICA) a pedigreed litter of cats within the previous calendar year.
  2. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in a field of science or law.
  3. Applicants must have entered and exhibited a cat in a TICA show in the previous calendar year.
  4. Applicants must be TICA Members.
  5. Applicants must agree to attend the conference or seminar identified in their application and agree to provide an article or presentation of the conference proceedings within 30 days of the conference to share with the larger feline enthusiast community.

The TIFF Scholarship Awards are awarded without regard to race, sex, religion, age, national origin or sexual orientation. TIFF will not award scholarships to applicants who are not qualified and reserves the right not to award a scholarship in a given year.

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated or expressed interest in feline welfare, mammalian biology, mammalian genetics, animal science, local, state or national animal regulation through educational and practical attainment.
  2. Quality of past articles or presentations about an aspect of cats meant to help feline enthusiasts understand, apply or become aware information.
  3. Demonstrated or expressed interest in feline welfare, mammalian biology, mammalian genetics, animal science, local, state or national animal regulation through educational and practical attainment.
  4. Quality of past articles or presentations about an aspect of cats meant to help feline enthusiasts understand, apply or become aware information.
  5. Demonstrated beneficial Improvement through selection, care or presentation of your breed or household pet cats through your involvement in the feline enthusiast hobby.

Application Requirements

To be considered for a Jean Mill Feline Enthusiast Education TIFF Scholarship Award, applicants must complete an application and return it to TIFF by December 1st, 2018. The application must include:

  1. A completed application form. Only complete application forms will be considered. You can fill out our online form, or download a Word or PDF version of the form.
  2. Copy of a TICA litter registration from the previous calendar year.
  3. Copy of a TICA catalog cover and page or show report showing an entry owned by the applicant.
  4. A one-page (< 500 words) statement stating the applicant’s qualifications, interest and goals for attending the conference or seminar.
  5. Agreement to attend the conference or seminar identified in the application.
  6. Copy of previously written article or power point presentation previously presented to help other feline enthusiasts understand, apply or become aware of information, PLEASE NOTE ORIGINAL PUBLICATION or PRESENTATION DATE.

All six of the above items must be submitted before the application will be considered.

  • The Word/PDF application form requires a signature. You may provide an electronic signature, or print out the completed application form, sign it, and either scan it as a PDF and email it to us, or mail in the printed application to the address below.
  • For the statement of qualifications, interest and goals, you may use the page included in the application form, or attach a separate page.
  • You can email your completed application form as a PDF file to scholarship@tiffresearch.org. Please include the applicant’s last name as part of the file name.
